Chapter Projects

Community Service Project

This year, Janani Prasad, Manvita Tatavarthy, and Suruchi Salgar (MV 2012) will be organizing a community service project for Free the Children. This organization works all over the world to stop the exploitation of children and help them by providing healthcare and education. The chapter project will consist of three committees that will all take care of different things, including fundraising and community awareness. Some upcoming events include a garage sale and an entertainment night! Contact CSP2012@mvdeca.org for more information.

Creative Marketing Project

Samyu Sridhar, Anna Aswadhati and Anjali Narula (MV 2014) will be leading this year's CMP project! Their marketing campaign is also for the non-profit organization, Free the Children. While the CSP and CMP projects will be coordinating several events together, the CMP project’s main goal is to make an effective and creative marketing campaign while the CSP project aims to organize several events that raise money for Free the Children. Some upcoming CMP events include a flyer contest and a raffle! Contact CMP2012@mvdeca.org to learn how you can help!

Public Relations Project

Shailee Samar, the Director of Internships (2014), is leading the Public Relations Project. The Cupertino@Cupertino project brings our residents and businesses together and encourages residents to eat, shop, and celebrate at local Cupertino! With Cupertino@Cupertino, there are 5 different activities: C@C Taste of Cupertino where local restaurants offer food samples out to residents in Nov 2011; C@C Weekend where local businesses offer deals and discounts in Feb 2012; C@C Walk-One-Week in April 2012 where students from 13 Cupertino schools walk to win prizes sponsored by Cupertino businesses, C@C Sow-and-Grow in April 2012 where thousands of plants and seeds will be given away during Earth Week, and C@C Internships at Cupertino businesses.

The team would be involved in meetings with Cupertino City Council and Chamber of Commerce, presenting to Cupertino business owners, preparing budgets, negotiating some contracts, designing flyers that will be sent out to all 20,000 homes, interviewing businesses to find out about their needs, and persuading businesses to sponsor prizes for WOW and seeds for Sow-and-Grow. By being part of the team, you would get to use your DECA skills in real-world experience, and get a direct feel for the business world. The upcoming events throughout the school year will provide ample opportunities for DECA member involvement and volunteer hours! Contact PRP2012@mvdeca.org if you have questions or are interested in participating!
